Odisha Minister announces streamlined sale of part plots starting January 2025
Bhubaneswar, Dec 24: Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari announced that the process for selling part plots in Odisha will be simplified beginning in January 2025.
The Minister indicated that the state government is prepared to amend the Odisha Real Estate Regulatory Act (RERA) if necessary to facilitate smoother transactions. A meeting of the RERA committee is set for December 31 to address this issue. “We have previously instructed the RERA committee to explore options for making part plot sales easier and to prepare draft proposals for any required amendments to the RERA legislation,” he explained.
In addition, Pujari noted that the government plans to revise the Development Authority Act or clarify certain provisions that may create challenges in the sale of part plots. “There are some unclear terms in the Development Authority Act that need to be properly defined. We will either remove these terms or provide necessary clarifications,” he added.
Regarding previously sold part plots, the Minister revealed that 31 District Registrars or Sub-Registrars have been identified for scrutiny. Their sales will be reviewed to determine if any were conducted illegally, and appropriate actions will be taken if violations are found. This initiative aims to enhance transparency and efficiency in land transactions across the state.
