IMD predicts 2-3°c drop in night temperatures across Odisha following rain
Bhubaneswar, Dec 24: Following two days of rain caused by a low-pressure system, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a drop in night temperatures across Odisha by 2-3 degrees Celsius. As per the midday bulletin, while the minimum temperature is expected to remain relatively stable over the next 48 hours, it will gradually decrease by 2-3 degrees Celsius over the subsequent three days.
The weather forecast indicates light to moderate rainfall in several districts, including Ganjam, Gajapati, Nayagarh, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Puri, Khurda, Cuttack, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Jagatsinghpur, Nawarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Kendrapada, Boudh, Angul, and Dhenkanal on Tuesday. Additionally, shallow to moderate fog may develop in certain areas of Keonjhar.
Looking ahead to December 25, light rain is expected to persist in Puri, Khurda, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, and Nabarangpur as the well-marked low-pressure area over the southwest Bay of Bengal is forecasted to shift west-southwest and gradually weaken.
In the past 24 hours, G Udayagiri in Kandhamal recorded the lowest temperature in the state at 10.6 degrees Celsius, followed closely by Koraput at 12 degrees Celsius. While moderate fog was observed in Keonjhar, significant rainfall was reported in Jajpur, Koraput, and Gajapati districts.
