Four arrested in connection with taxi driver’s death in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, Sept 22: The Badagada police have arrested four persons in connection with the mysterious death of taxi driver Bidyadhara Sahu, whose body was discovered under suspicious circumstances last week.

The accused have been identified as N. Dilip Kumar, Ramesh Chandra Behera, K. Ravindra, and Deepak Kumar Sahukar, all hailing from Paralakhemundi in Gajapati district. According to police, they allegedly abducted Sahu on September 16, demanding money and documents that they claimed he owed them.

Following his disappearance, Sahu’s wife filed a missing complaint on September 19. A day later, his body was found near the Baranga-Pitapalli road under Chandaka police limits, triggering widespread suspicion.

Speaking on the case, Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissioner S. Dev Datta Singh stated that the accused alleged Sahu had taken their money and documents, assuring them jobs in return. While in their custody, he reportedly died by suicide under pressure. To cover up the incident, the accused attempted to hang the body from a tree to make it appear as a suicide.

Police have so far arrested four suspects, but officials confirmed that further investigation is ongoing, and additional arrests may follow as more details surface.
