Odisha CM offers Rs 6 lakh ex-gratia after crocodile attack claims boy's life

Bhubaneswar, June 29: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has expressed profound sorrow over the tragic death of a young boy in a crocodile attack along the Mahanadi River at Tikarpada in Angul district.
He has conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the grieving family. The Chief Minister has also announced an ex-gratia compensation of Rs 6 lakh for the next of kin of the deceased boy.
The incident occurred on Saturday in the Tikarpada area of Angul district, where an eight-year-old boy lost his life after being attacked by a crocodile. According to reports, the boy, believed to be from Tikarpada Ghat, was playing on the riverbank when the crocodile suddenly emerged and pulled him into the water.
Local residents promptly alerted the fire brigade, who conducted a search operation. Tragically, the boy's body was recovered by firefighting officials after an intensive search effort.
