Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi announces 2% DA hike for govt employees and pensioners

Bhubaneswar, April 11: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday announced a 2 per cent hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) for Odisha government employees, providing much-needed financial relief amid rising living costs. With this latest revision, the DA has now increased to 55%, up from the previous 53%. This follows a 3% hike announced in October last year, just ahead of Diwali.

According to a release issued by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), the revised DA will be implemented retrospectively from January 1, 2025. Employees will receive the increased amount as a cash benefit along with their April salary.

In a parallel move, the state government has also approved a 2 per cent increase in Dearness Relief (DR) for pensioners, commonly referred to as Temporary Increase (TI). Pensioners will receive the revised amount in their April pension.

This decision will directly benefit nearly 8.5 lakh individuals across the state, including both active government employees and retired personnel. The move reflects the state government's continued commitment to supporting its workforce and senior citizens during inflationary pressures.
