BIPF recognizes Odisha’s changemakers with Shambhavi Puraskar 2025

Bhubaneswar, March 20: The Bansidhar and Ila Panda Foundation (BIPF) has conferred the prestigious 12th Shambhavi Puraskar on the Centre for Integrated Rural and Tribal Development (CIRTD) for its remarkable contributions to rural development in Odisha’s Sundargarh district. CIRTD has played a pivotal role in improving the lives of farmers, women, children, and youth through various community-driven programs aimed at sustainable development.
Additionally, Dr. Sibaji Panda from Sonepur, Odisha, was honored with the Jury Commendation Certification for his dedication to supporting children with hearing impairments and empowering them to reach their full potential.
The award ceremony was attended by distinguished guests, including Jayant Singh Chowdhury, Union Minister of State for Skill Development & Enterprise and Education, as the Chief Guest, and Padma Professor Dr. Ashok Kumar Mohapatra as the Guest of Honour.
A key highlight of the event was an insightful fireside chat featuring the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour, and young representatives from the skill sector and educational institutions. Moderated by Shaifalika Panda, Trustee & Founder CEO of BIPF, the discussion centered on youth aspirations, skill development, and employment opportunities, underscoring the need for a holistic approach to career preparedness.
Since its inception in 2014, the Shambhavi Puraskar has recognized over 20 grassroots changemakers, amplifying their efforts and inspiring community-driven transformation. The award carries a cash prize of ₹5,00,000, a citation, and a trophy, while the Jury Commendation Certification includes ₹1,00,000 and a citation.
Speaking at the event, Jayant Singh Chowdhury emphasized the importance of entrepreneurship and skill development in Odisha, highlighting the need to bridge economic disparities in resource-rich regions. Guest of Honour Dr. Ashok Kumar Mohapatra lauded the awardees for their transformative work, particularly in empowering marginalized communities.
The selection process for the award involves a rigorous evaluation by an independent jury panel comprising experts from government, academia, industry, media, and BIPF, ensuring that impactful changemakers are recognized and supported each year.
