IMD forecasts thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds across Odisha for next three days

Bhubaneswar, April 3: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty surface winds in several parts of Odisha for the next three days. However, the severe heatwave conditions, which had recently subsided due to thunderstorms, may return as temperatures are expected to rise again after three days.
According to the IMD bulletin, on April 4-5, thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds reaching 40-50 kmph are expected in districts like Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Boudh, Angul, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Mayurbhanj, and Dhenkanal. A yellow warning has been issued for these regions.
On April 5-6, similar weather conditions with wind speeds of 30-40 kmph may occur in Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri districts.
No major changes in daytime temperatures are expected for the next three days, but after that, the mercury is likely to rise by 2-3°C. Boudh and Balangir districts may witness temperatures above 40°C, marking the return of heatwave-like conditions.
