IMD predicts rain and drop in temperature across Odisha for New Year

Bhubaneswar, Dec 28: Parts of Odisha are expected to experience rainfall over the next two days due to the influence of a western disturbance, as per the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Light to moderate rain is anticipated, particularly in the northern and northwestern regions, as the state prepares for the New Year celebrations.
The IMD’s Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre forecasts light rain in a few places across districts such as Nabarangpur, Balangir, Bargarh, Sonepur, Jharsuguda, Sundergarh, Kalahandi, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sambalpur, and Nuapada through Sunday morning. Additionally, shallow to moderate fog is expected in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, and Angul districts.
A yellow warning has been issued for dense fog in Kalahandi and Kandhamal districts during this period. Light rain is also likely in parts of Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Koraput, and Malkangiri until Monday morning.
The IMD also predicts a drop in night temperatures across the state starting December 30, leading to colder weather. The minimum temperature is expected to decrease by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius over the next three days, making the New Year’s celebrations colder than usual.
