Heatwave alert: Odisha schools to conduct morning classes from April 2

Bhubaneswar, March 19: In view of the intensifying heatwave conditions in Odisha, the state government has decided to reschedule school timings, ensuring classes are held during the morning hours starting April 2.
Announcing the decision, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari stated that the move is aimed at safeguarding students from the scorching summer heat. The government has been closely monitoring the rising temperatures and taking precautionary measures to mitigate the impact on students and staff.
This decision follows a similar step taken for Anganwadi Centres, which have been directed to function from 7 AM to 9 AM to protect young children and caregivers from heat-related health risks.
The government has urged parents, teachers, and school authorities to ensure necessary precautions, such as hydration, shaded areas, and adequate ventilation, to help students cope with the extreme weather.
Further updates and additional heatwave management measures are expected as the government continues to assess the weather conditions and their impact on public health.
