Former Polasara MLA Niranjan Pradhan passes away

Bhubaneswar, Oct 11: Former Polasara MLA Niranjan Pradhan passed away on Thursday night while receiving treatment at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar. He was 67 years old. According to family sources, Pradhan had been unwell for about a month and was undergoing treatment for a brain hemorrhage and multiple blood clots since September 3. He also suffered from diabetes.

Pradhan was first elected as an MLA from the Kodala Assembly constituency in Ganjam district in 2004 and later from the Polasara constituency in 2009, both times representing the Biju Janata Dal (BJD). After being denied a BJD ticket in the 2019 elections, he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Leaders from various political parties have expressed their condolences following his passing.
