ASI set to finish Ratna Bhandar repairs before Ratha Yatra, confirms SJTA

Bhubaneswar, April 12: The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), Puri Circle, is on track to complete the repair and conservation work of the historic Ratna Bhandar at Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri ahead of the annual Ratha Yatra in 2025.

This update was shared by Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee, Chief Administrator of the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), through a post on his official X (formerly Twitter) account. Dr. Padhee stated that the restoration efforts are progressing steadily under the close supervision of ASI officials.

He revealed that the inner sanctum, or Bhitara Ratna Bhandar, is nearly restored, with only the floor renovation pending. A key achievement in the process has been the successful installation of five stainless steel box beams in the inner chamber.

Work on the Bahara Ratna Bhandar is also nearing completion, including the replacement of damaged stone structures and de-plastering of the outer surface, particularly around the Jagamohana Pidha stones.

Dr. Padhee emphasized the importance of careful execution given the sensitive nature of the structure and assured that SJTA will continue to extend full support to ASI until the project is completed.
