IMD forecasts rainfall and temperature increase across Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Dec 18: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) announced on Wednesday that Odisha can expect a gradual rise in night temperatures by 2-3°C over the next two days, along with rainfall activity lasting until December 21.
This morning, Bhubaneswar recorded a temperature of 20.2°C at 5:30 AM, a notable increase from 16.2°C on the previous day. The minimum temperature in the city over the last 24 hours was 18.6°C, which follows a low of 13.6°C the day before and a season low of 10.9°C on Sunday, during a prolonged cold wave that affected the state for four consecutive days.
The recent rain is attributed to changes in wind patterns, with easterly and south-easterly winds bringing moisture to the region.
The IMD has forecast light rain in parts of Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, and Puri districts on December 18, accompanied by shallow to moderate fog in Kandhamal, Kalahandi, and Sundargarh. Rain intensity is expected to slightly increase over the next three days, with light to moderate showers likely in several districts, including Koraput, Malkangiri, and Jagatsinghpur on December 19, and in coastal areas on December 20. Afterward, dry weather is anticipated to return across the state.
