IMD announces full withdrawal of monsoon from Odisha by Tuesday

New Delhi, Oct 15: The southwest monsoon is currently retreating from Odisha, a process that commenced on October 13 and is anticipated to conclude by Tuesday.
The monsoon has fully departed from several districts, including Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Khurda, Jajpur, Nayagarh, Boudh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Deogarh, Subarnapur, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, and Sundargarh.
It has also pulled back from the majority of Bolangir, Kandhamal, and Ganjam districts, along with parts of Nuapada and Kalahandi. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts that the remaining areas will see the monsoon's withdrawal by October 15.
Overall, Odisha experienced average rainfall during this monsoon season, with the total rainfall from June 1 to September 30 recorded at 1,092 mm, which is 5% below the normal levels. Malkangiri district recorded the highest rainfall at 1,982.1 mm, while Nuapada saw 1,236.6 mm. However, since the onset of the post-monsoon season, no district has received normal rainfall.
