Class X student attacks father over haircut dispute in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, April 12: In a shocking incident from Belbaria village under Sadar police limits in Balasore district, a minor boy allegedly attacked his father with a sharp weapon following an argument over a haircut. The incident took place on Saturday and left the father critically injured.

The victim has been identified as Keshav Mohanty, while the accused is his teenage son, a Class X student. According to sources, the boy had recently returned home after getting a haircut. However, his father reportedly expressed strong disapproval of his new hairstyle, which triggered a heated argument between the two.

In a fit of rage, the boy allegedly picked up a sharp object and attacked his father, causing severe injuries to his neck. Neighbors rushed to the spot upon hearing the commotion and immediately took Mohanty to the Balasore District Headquarters Hospital (DHH). Due to the seriousness of his injuries, he was later referred to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for specialized treatment.

As of the latest update, no formal police complaint had been registered regarding the incident. Authorities are expected to launch an investigation once an official report is filed.
