Odisha ADM Birendra Kumar Das succumbs after on-stage collapse

Bhubaneswar, July 11: In a tragic turn of events, Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Birendra Kumar Das of Gajapati district in Odisha collapsed while singing at a cultural programme in Paralakhemundi.

According to sources, the senior officer was swiftly taken to the district headquarters hospital in Paralakhemundi and later transferred to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur as his condition worsened.

Despite medical efforts, Das was declared deceased by doctors in Berhampur. The exact cause of his sudden passing is yet to be determined, though initial reports suggest a suspected heart attack. The incident has deeply saddened the state, causing shock among the community.

The cultural event, hosted by the district administration at Parlakhemundi Brundaban Palace on Wednesday night, took a tragic turn when Das, while performing, suddenly felt unwell and collapsed on stage.

On Thursday, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi conveyed his condolences on the untimely demise of Birendra Kumar Das.
