Odisha Government suspends Hemgiri Tehsildar for negligence

Bhubaneswar, Nov 30: The Odisha government has taken disciplinary action against Lavanyendu Mohanty, the Tehsildar of Hemgiri in Sundargarh district, suspending him for alleged negligence in his duties. Sources indicate that the Revenue and Disaster Management Department acted upon claims of neglect, corruption, and repeated absences from work.
Mohanty's absence from a crucial monthly revenue meeting, which was led by the District Collector, raised significant concerns, particularly as he did not seek permission for his non-attendance. This absence was deemed a serious breach of protocol.
The suspension was mandated by the Additional Chief Secretary of Revenue and Disaster Management, following a report from the District Collector that highlighted previous allegations against Mohanty, which also influenced the decision.
Under the terms of his suspension, Mohanty will be stationed at the Sundargarh Collectorate until further notice, and he is not allowed to leave the district headquarters without the Collector's consent. A formal notification from the Revenue and Disaster Management Department confirmed that disciplinary proceedings against him are underway, leading to his immediate suspension under Rule-12 of the OCS (CC&A) Rules, 1962.
