Former DGP Prakash Mishra appointed advisor to Odisha CM

Bhubaneswar, Jan 27: The Odisha government has appointed Prakash Mishra, the former Director General of Odisha Police (DGP), as an advisor to the Chief Minister.

A notification released on Monday by the General Administration and Public Grievance Department confirmed his appointment and granted Mishra the rank of Cabinet Minister. Mishra, a 1977-batch IPS officer, served as the DGP of Odisha from 2012 to 2014. Following his tenure in the Odisha Police, he went on to serve as the Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) from 2014 to 2016 before retiring.

After his retirement, Mishra became involved in politics, joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the 2019 state elections. He contested the Cuttack parliamentary seat as a BJP candidate but was unsuccessful in his bid.
