BJD leader Raja Chakra taken on three-day remand in financial fraud case

Bhubaneswar, March 19: BJD leader Soumya Sankar Chakra, popularly known as Raja Chakra, has been taken on a three-day remand by the Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) of the Odisha Crime Branch following the approval of the Special OPID Court in Balasore on Wednesday.
The EOW had sought a five-day remand to interrogate Chakra in connection with an alleged multi-crore transport scam and mining irregularities in Keonjhar district. However, the court permitted only three days of custodial interrogation.
Raja Chakra was arrested on March 14 after allegations surfaced regarding his involvement in financial fraud related to transport contracts and mining leases. Following his arrest, he was produced before the court and subsequently sent to judicial custody until March 19.
The Crime Branch aims to question him intensively to uncover details about the money trail, possible accomplices, and misappropriated funds. Investigators are also focusing on identifying key links in the scam and recovering diverted financial assets. More revelations are expected as the probe progresses.
