Two engineering students killed in high-speed bike crash on Fire Station Road in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, Aug 21: A tragic road accident claimed the lives of two engineering students after their Bullet motorcycle crashed late on Wednesday night on Fire Station Road near Rental Colony in Bhubaneswar.

The deceased have been identified as Devi Prasad Parida and Anvesh Satyadarshan Das, both pursuing studies at a private engineering college. According to eyewitnesses and initial police reports, the two were riding at a very high speed when the rider reportedly lost control of the bike.

The motorcycle first rammed into a streetlight pole, before skidding several metres along the road. In its path, it further collided with a roadside tree and finally struck a parked car, leaving the two youths with fatal injuries. The impact was so severe that both the rider and pillion died instantly on the spot.

Local residents immediately alerted the police, following which a team from Khandagiri police station reached the site, conducted a preliminary investigation, and sent the bodies for post-mortem examination.

The accident has once again raised concerns over overspeeding and reckless driving among youngsters in the capital city, with residents urging stricter enforcement of traffic rules to prevent further tragedies.
