Police tighten security in Puri for safe and smooth New Year celebrations

Bhubaneswar, Dec 28: With a large influx of devotees and tourists expected in Puri for the New Year, extensive security measures have been put in place to ensure the safety and smooth movement of visitors. Additionally, a special traffic advisory has been issued to manage vehicle flow and prevent traffic congestion.

Speaking to the media on Saturday, Puri Superintendent of Police (SP) Vinit Agarwal confirmed that heightened security arrangements have been made around key areas such as the Shree Jagannath Temple, nearby sea beaches, traffic zones, bus stands, railway stations, and other prominent locations within the town to ensure the safety of visitors and prevent any incidents.

Agarwal explained, “We have arranged necessary security measures in all key areas, including the temple premises, surrounding areas, major temples, sea beaches, and critical traffic zones to ensure a smooth experience for all visitors.”

For parking, vehicles coming from Bhubaneswar will be directed to park at Jail Road and Saradha Bali, while those arriving from Konark will park at Talabania Ground, and visitors from Brahmagiri will park at Jatrika. All vehicles must return via the same route they arrived.

As per the traffic advisory, two-wheeler riders can enter through Grand Road, via Atharnala, Banambar Chowk, Kumbharpada Police Station, and Hospital Square, with parking available at the Municipality Market Complex on a first-come, first-served basis.
