Saffron uniforms for servitors: A step towards uniformity at Ananda Bazaar

Bhubaneswar, Dec 19: In a bid to uphold discipline and maintain decorum at the Ananda Bazaar, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has announced a new dress code for its servitors.

Effective December 25, Supakara servitors responsible for selling Mahaprasad will be required to wear saffron-coloured uniforms, as per the decision made by the Suara Mahasuara Niyog, with the SJTA's approval. This initiative aims to create a uniform appearance and instill a sense of professionalism among the servitors.

In a previous effort to enhance security and preserve the sanctity of the area, the SJTA assigned a team of 20 retired army personnel to the Ananda Bazaar. These former military members will be dressed in civilian clothing and will work in two shifts—morning from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM and afternoon from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Their primary roles will include overseeing the activities of servitors and devotees, ensuring the sale of fresh Mahaprasad, and maintaining order in the bazaar.

Additionally, servitors involved in selling Anna Mahaprasad and Sukhila Mahaprasad will now be permitted to hire one assistant each to support them in their responsibilities. These initiatives are expected to enhance organization and discipline at the Ananda Bazaar, ultimately improving the experience for devotees visiting the temple.
