Rahul Gandhi accused of pushing BJP MP during Ambedkar protest

Bhubaneswar, Dec 19: Former Union Minister Pratap Sarangi, a BJP MP from Odisha, suffered injuries, including a head wound, during a protest by the INDIA bloc inside Parliament on Thursday.

Sarangi claimed that he was injured when Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi allegedly pushed another MP, who then fell on him. Speaking to reporters, Sarangi explained, “I was near the stairs when Rahul Gandhi pushed an MP, causing him to fall on me.”

BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla criticized the Congress party, accusing it of resorting to violence and spreading falsehoods. He called for a police complaint against Rahul Gandhi for allegedly endangering Sarangi’s safety and urged the Speaker of the House to take action against what he termed Gandhi's “hooliganism.” Poonawalla questioned whether Gandhi was truly acting as the Leader of the Opposition or as a "Leader of Anarchy and Violence."

In response, Rahul Gandhi stated that he had been pushed by BJP MPs while attempting to enter Parliament. He maintained that the altercation was instigated by BJP members trying to prevent his entry, asserting, “We have the right to go in,” and emphasized that the central issue at hand was the attack on the Constitution and the memory of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
