Puri Heritage Walks hosts school competition ahead of first annual day celebration

Bhubaneswar, Aug 4: In the run-up to its first annual day celebration, Puri Heritage Walks (PHW) organized a school-level competition at PM Shri Biswambhar Vidyapitha on August 3, aiming to spark students’ interest in heritage and cultural preservation. The event saw enthusiastic participation from over 70 students across various schools in Puri.

Students from Classes VIII, IX, and X showcased their creativity and knowledge in drawing and quiz competitions centered on the theme of heritage. The competition served as a platform to promote awareness and appreciation of the rich cultural and historical legacy of Puri among the younger generation.

The winners will be felicitated during PHW’s first annual day celebration at Sanskruti Bhavan, Puri, on August 10. PHW, a community-driven initiative, has been actively organizing thematic heritage trails in Puri, highlighting temples, mutts, shrines, monuments, festivals, and traditional practices. Since its inception, the group has successfully conducted 12 heritage walks.

The programme was coordinated by Dr. Kumar Aurojyoti, convener of the initiative, with strong support from PHW members and volunteers including Ashoka Nayak, Debasis Mishra, Jyotsna Mohapatra, Tanmaya Chatterjee, and others, who played key roles in making the event a success.
