Odisha CM announces model schools in every panchayat on Teachers' Day

Bhubaneswar, Sept 5: On Teachers' Day, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced a series of educational initiatives, including the establishment of model schools in every panchayat across the state. The Chief Minister stated that the state government will fully fund these schools, which will be named after Odisha's first Education Minister, Godabarisha Mishra.

A budget of Rs 50 crore has been allocated for the new initiative, known as the ‘Godabarisha Mishra Adarsha Prathamika Vidyalaya,’ aimed at enhancing primary education in rural and semi-urban areas. The initiative is part of a broader effort by the BJP government to improve school education in Odisha.

Additionally, the government plans to recruit 27,197 teachers for these model schools within the current financial year, including the appointment of 16,010 junior teachers within the next three months.

At the state-level Teachers' Day event held at Lok Seva Bhawan, Chief Minister Majhi also launched the ‘Nipuna Odisha’ program, which focuses on culture-based education. He underscored the vital role of teachers in shaping society's future and reiterated the government's commitment to implementing the National Education Policy 2020. Majhi highlighted the importance of imparting values and principles along with quality education, and praised the dedication of teachers.

Two key government initiatives were also highlighted: the ‘Madho Singh Hata Kharcha’ scheme, designed to reduce dropout rates among tribal students and benefiting three lakh students, and the ‘Godabarisha Mishra Adarsh Primary School’ scheme for improving educational quality.

The event was attended by School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond and Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj as guests of honor.
