Puri's Shree Jagannath Temple to adopt queue system from New Year

Bhubaneswar, Dec 20: The Odisha Government is set to introduce a queue system at the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri to facilitate a smooth darshan experience for devotees starting from the New Year. This initiative comes as the temple administration prepares for a significant influx of visitors during the holiday season.

Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan announced that efforts are underway to ensure that devotees can view Lord Jagannath in an organized manner, with designated areas from Nata Mandap to Bahara Katha. He urged all stakeholders to collaborate for the effective implementation of this queue system, which will allow devotees to enter the temple from one side and exit from the other.

Additionally, special arrangements are being made for differently-abled and elderly devotees to ensure they can also have an enjoyable darshan experience.

On Thursday, Chief Administrator Arabinda Padhee mentioned that separate queues will be established for women, children, and male devotees. These arrangements align with decisions made during a recent meeting between the Law Minister, officials from the Odisha Bhakta Kendra Committee (OBCC), and temple servitors regarding the installation of collapsible barricades and ramps in the Natamandap area to facilitate public access. Devotees will be able to see the deities from the Natamandap, he added.
