Advanced tech to safeguard Shree Jagannath Temple’s Ratna Bhandar during repairs

Bhubaneswar, July 29: The Ratna Bhandar of the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri, Odisha, will undergo repairs using the latest technology to ensure the safety of the structure and address any concerns, according to Justice (Retd) Biswanath Rath, who chairs the high-level inspection committee overseeing the process.
Justice Rath emphasized that the preservation of the 12th-century temple's structure is of utmost importance, and all necessary precautions will be implemented to prevent any damage during the repairs. Prior to commencing the repair work, all cupboards and chests within the Ratna Bhandar will be relocated. The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) will designate a suitable location for this purpose.
The repair plan includes the use of advanced technology and non-destructive tools for a comprehensive inspection. Any new discoveries will be addressed appropriately, with adjustments made as needed. The temple managing committee has been advised to update the standard operating procedures (SOP), which will be reviewed and approved by the state government. Inventory will be conducted only after the repair work is completed, Justice Rath added.
