Commissionerate Police seize guns, gold, and cash in major operation

Bhubaneswar, Dec 25: In a significant breakthrough, the Commissionerate Police arrested five members of a gang involved in smuggling country-made firearms and committing various crimes. The arrests were made during a late-night blockade in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.

According to Commissioner of Police Suresh Devidutt Singh, the special squad seized five country-made guns, including two revolvers and three mausers, along with 15 live bullets, Rs 84,000 in cash, and a car used by the gang.

“The gang, led by Chandan Pradhan of Khurda, has been implicated in multiple cases of dacoity, theft, and burglary across Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Puri, and nearby districts like Jagatsinghpur and Khurda,” Singh revealed during a press briefing on Wednesday.

In a separate operation, nine more individuals involved in various criminal activities were arrested from the Tamando, Mancheswar, and Airport areas of Bhubaneswar. The police also recovered 102 grams of gold from their possession and seized another car they were planning to use for a robbery.

Singh emphasized that the Commissionerate Police will continue its crackdown on criminals and anti-social elements with a zero-tolerance approach to maintain law and order and ensure public safety.
