Over 20 students injured in bee attack during Saraswati Puja in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Feb 2: Over 20 students and staff members were injured in a bee attack during Saraswati Puja celebrations at a private school near Bhawanipatna town in Odisha’s Kalahandi district on Sunday.
The incident occurred at Duarasuni village on the outskirts of Bhawanipatna, where the school was hosting its annual Saraswati Puja celebrations. While the festivities were underway, a swarm of bees suddenly emerged and attacked the students. Locals reported that the bees had established two hives and a nest on the school premises, which likely triggered the aggressive behavior.
More than 20 individuals, including students and school staff, were injured in the attack. Panic spread as the bees stung several people, and immediate action was taken to transport the victims to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) for treatment.
After receiving medical care, most of the injured returned home. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the attack, and efforts are being made to remove the bee hives to prevent further incidents.
