Congress candidate arrested for alleged assault on business rival in Odisha

Berhampur, May 17: In Odisha's Ganjam district, police apprehended Saka Sujit Kumar, the Congress candidate contesting from Digapahandi Assembly constituency, on charges of assaulting his business rival.
The incident transpired near the Berhampur police station on Wednesday, with Kumar detained by authorities the following day. According to Berhampur SP Sarthak Sarangi, three individuals, including Sudhansu Sangram Padhy, a builder from Sihala, sustained injuries in the altercation.
As per reports, miscreants purportedly attacked Padhy's personnel while they were engaged in work at a plot in the Kukudakhandi area. Subsequently, when Padhy and his team were en route to the police station to register a complaint, the Congress candidate and his associates allegedly launched an assault on them, as confirmed by police sources on Friday.
Additionally, law enforcement officials arrested K Amit Kumar, a business associate of the Congress nominee operating in the real estate sector.
