Woman constable found dead in Balasore barrack, probe underway

Bhubaneswar, April 8: A tragic incident unfolded in Balasore district on Tuesday after a young woman constable was found hanging inside a police barrack, triggering deep shock among her colleagues and local residents. The deceased has been identified as Yashoda Das, a native of Mandarpur village under Remuna police station limits.
As per initial information, fellow personnel discovered Yashoda hanging inside the barrack earlier in the day. She was immediately rushed to the Balasore District Headquarters Hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead. Her sudden demise has cast a pall of gloom over the police department, prompting questions regarding the circumstances leading to her death.
Yashoda’s brother, Tutu Das, revealed that she was in a relationship, and it is suspected that emotional turmoil stemming from that connection might have influenced her decision. “We only found out at the hospital. It seems like she took this step because of her relationship. Hopefully, her phone data will reveal more,” he said.
Balasore SP Raj Prasad confirmed that a probe is underway. “Preliminary findings indicate personal distress as a possible cause. A detailed investigation is in progress,” he stated.
