Hari Babu Kambhampati sworn in as 27th Governor of Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Jan 3: Hari Babu Kambhampati was sworn in as the 27th Governor of Odisha on Friday. The oath of office was administered by Chief Justice Chakradhari Sharan Singh of the Orissa High Court at the Raj Bhavan in Bhubaneswar.
The ceremony was attended by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Deputy Chief Ministers KV Singh Deo and Pravati Parida, Odisha Assembly Speaker Surma Padhy, various ministers from the Odisha Cabinet, Leader of the Opposition Naveen Patnaik, Vice Chancellors from several universities, and other distinguished guests.
Kambhampati, who previously served as the Governor of Mizoram, was appointed to his new role on December 24. After arriving in Bhubaneswar on Thursday, he visited Puri to seek the blessings of Lord Jagannath and His Holy Siblings. Following an overnight stay at the Puri Raj Bhavan, he returned to Bhubaneswar on Friday morning for the oath-taking ceremony.
Governor Kambhampati holds a B.Tech degree in Electronics & Communications Engineering, along with an M.E. in Electrical & Control Systems and a PhD in Control Systems, all from Andhra University. He has 24 years of experience as an Associate Professor at the Engineering College of Andhra University.
Dr. Kambhampati was actively involved in the Lok Sangharsh Samithi agitation led by Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan during the 1974-1975 emergency, which resulted in his arrest under the Maintenance of Internal Security Act (MISA). In 1977, he became a member of the Andhra Pradesh State Executive of the Janata Party and later served as the Andhra Pradesh BJP State President from 2014 to 2018.
