Odisha Crime Branch revisits Naba Das murder case, questions family

Bhubaneswar, March 18: A team from the Odisha Crime Branch visited the residence of slain BJD leader and former Health Minister Naba Kishore Das in Jharsuguda and recorded statements from his family members as part of the ongoing probe into his murder case.
The two-member team, led by the newly appointed investigating officer ASP Vijay Mallick and DSP Diptimayee Mallick, reached the Das residence in Sarbahal, Jharsuguda and conducted the inquiry. According to sources, the officials recorded the statements of Naba Das’ daughter, Deepali Das, and son, Bishal Das during their visit.
Earlier, the Crime Branch had summoned both siblings in connection with the case, but they had not appeared before the officials. The recent visit by the Crime Branch comes days after Minati Das, wife of the slain leader, wrote a letter to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, seeking a meeting to discuss concerns regarding the investigation. The letter was reportedly sent via e-mail and postal mail.
It may be recalled that Naba Kishore Das was shot by a policeman on January 29, 2023, at Brajarajnagar in Jharsuguda district. He later succumbed to his injuries at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar, leaving the state in shock.
