Bhubaneswar Metro project advances with soil testing

Bhubaneswar, Sept 7: Soil testing has commenced for the Bhubaneswar Metro project, marking a significant development. According to sources, testing began last Sunday and is scheduled to continue for the next three months along the metro route from Airport Square to Trishulia Square.

The soil analysis will be conducted every 100 meters along the entire route. Current activities include sampling at Forest Park and Vani Vihar, specifically at Biju Patnaik Park.

"Samples are being collected from depths of up to 40 meters. Two teams, each with six members, are currently working at Forest Park. The collected samples will be sent to a laboratory for soil testing," sources reported.

The results from these soil tests will inform the design and construction of the metro line. The project plans include the construction of 20 elevated stations along the route.

The Bhubaneswar Metro, managed by the Bhubaneswar Metro Rail Corporation (BMRC) in partnership with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), will feature an approximately 26 km elevated line linking Trisulia Square with Biju Patnaik International Airport. The state government approved the project with an estimated budget of Rs 5926.38 crore.
