Odisha CM lays out vision for Malkangiri's future with major development plans

Bhubaneswar, Dec 14: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced a series of development projects for Malkangiri district on Saturday, including the establishment of a cement plant.

The announcement came after a high-level review meeting focused on the district's progress. Majhi emphasized that the development of Swabhiman Anchal would be a key consideration when selecting locations for these projects. The projects will be carried out under the direct supervision of the RDC (southern) and the district collector.

A major highlight of the plan is a cement plant estimated to cost Rs 4,000 crore, which is expected to generate employment for around 2,000 local youths. Additionally, the chief minister outlined plans to build a six-lane special corridor that will connect southern Odisha with northern Odisha, starting from Motu and ending at Tiring in Mayurbhanj, passing through Malkangiri.

He also revealed that land acquisition for upcoming railway projects in the district would begin shortly.

The meeting, held at the DRDA Conference Hall in Malkangiri, was attended by Minister Nityananda Gond, MP Balabhadra Majhi, other local representatives, the RDC (Southern), the district collector, and senior officials.
