Work on Jaydev Vihar-Nandankanan flyover to begin soon, says Odisha Works Minister

Bhubaneswar, Feb 11: The construction of a much-anticipated flyover on the busy Jaydev Vihar-Nandankanan Road in Bhubaneswar will begin soon, Works Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan announced on Tuesday.
The state government has given in-principle approval for the project, which aims to ease traffic congestion and improve road management in the Odisha capital.
Harichandan explained that the new flyover will be seamlessly integrated with the existing overpass on National Highway (NH)-16 at Jaydev Vihar and will extend up to Nandankanan Chhak. The elevated corridor will be a four-lane structure built over the existing road, with designated escape routes at key junctions to allow vehicles to exit onto service roads as needed. The design has been planned to ensure smooth movement of commuters and reduce traffic snarls in the city.
The minister also assured that the project does not require land acquisition, and no displacement of residents or businesses is planned. The government aims to complete a significant portion of the flyover by the 2027-28 financial year, making it a crucial infrastructure upgrade for Bhubaneswar’s growing urban traffic demands.
