Odisha CM flags off mega industrial push in Chhatrapur worth ₹28K crore

Bhubaneswar, June 5: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday inaugurated 12 major industrial and infrastructure projects in Chhatrapur, Odisha, attracting a combined investment of ₹28,084 crore. These initiatives are projected to create 15,455 employment opportunities, significantly advancing economic development in southern Odisha.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, the Chief Minister said the projects would pave the way for Ganjam district to emerge as a major industrial center. He noted that the investments align with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for a developed India and reflect the state’s focus on inclusive and decentralized growth. Majhi also announced a new Mother and Child Health Unit to improve healthcare services for women and children.

Highlighting recent achievements, he cited ₹1.5 lakh crore in investments within five months, leading to 90,000 new jobs, and emphasized the growing importance of Gopalpur Port.

The projects cover sectors such as green hydrogen, specialty chemicals, solar equipment, logistics, agro-processing, eco-tourism, and public infrastructure, including contributions from major companies like Ocior Energy, Petronet LNG, UPL Ltd., and TATA Steel.

Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain called the developments a milestone for Odisha’s balanced growth and industrial future.
