Odisha to reinforce COVID safety norms in schools post summer break amid rising cases

Bhubaneswar, June 5: With COVID-19 cases showing a slow but steady rise, the Odisha government has decided to implement strict safety measures in schools once they reopen after the summer vacation. The move aims to safeguard the health of students, teachers, and school staff.
School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond informed the media on Thursday that all schools across the state will be required to follow updated COVID-19 safety protocols. “With the recent uptick in infections, we cannot afford to take any chances. Health and safety are our topmost priorities,” the Minister said.
He added that precautionary steps will include mandatory mask-wearing for students showing symptoms of cold or cough. Those with more severe symptoms, such as fever or persistent illness, will be asked to stay at home and isolate as a preventive measure.
Schools have been instructed to follow the latest guidelines issued by the Health Department strictly. Teachers and staff will also be required to monitor students closely and report any suspected symptoms immediately. The minister urged parents and guardians to cooperate fully to ensure a safe and healthy school environment for all.
