Higher Education Minister announces policy change for UG admission process

Bhubaneswar, Aug 24: The guidelines have been updated to permit students who enrolled during the first phase of UG counseling to participate in the phase II admission process under SAMS, as announced by Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj on Saturday. This adjustment aims to include those who were previously excluded.

Previously, the department had ruled that students who had confirmed their choices would be ineligible for the second-phase admissions. The decision was made due to delays in the admission process. However, it was noted that many students were unaware of this policy as they had applied through various centers. The new guidelines have been introduced in response to requests from these students.

Under the revised rules, even students who secured admission in the first phase can now take part in the second phase. This change is intended to better serve student interests. The admission website has been reopened to facilitate this process and the updated guidelines will be enforced from the next academic year.

The admission process, which began on July 12, is scheduled to run until August 26.
