Odisha CM felicitates hockey star Amit Rohidas on Olympic success

Bhubaneswar, Aug 16: Odisha hockey star Amit Rohidas was honored by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi upon his return from the Paris Olympics, where he played a significant role in the Indian Men’s team securing a bronze medal. At a special ceremony attended by various dignitaries and ministers, the Chief Minister expressed hope that Rohidas would be instrumental in helping India win a gold medal in the next Olympics.

Chief Minister Majhi praised Rohidas as an inspirational figure for the youth and assured that the Odisha government would continue its strong support for hockey, aiming to achieve more success in international competitions.

Rohidas received a warm reception upon arriving in Bhubaneswar, being the only player from Odisha on the bronze medal-winning team. He was celebrated by numerous organizations for his contribution to the team's success in Paris.

Hailing from Saunamara village in Sundargarh district, Rohidas was welcomed by fans, family, and officials at the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Bhubaneswar.

The Odisha government has announced a cash reward of Rs 4 crore for Rohidas, while other Indian hockey team players will receive Rs 15 lakh each and support staff Rs 10 lakh each.

Rohidas dedicated his medal to the people of Odisha and expressed his thanks to Chief Minister Mohan Majhi and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for their support. He also extended his gratitude to his family, coaches, and teammates for their encouragement and pledged to elevate hockey to new heights in the future.
