Key accused Raju Mandal remanded for two days in SIM box case

Bhubaneswar, Aug 23: The Commissionerate Police on Friday placed Raju Mandal under a two-day remand in connection with the SIM Box case. He will be further interrogated to gather additional information.

Recently, Raju was transported to Ranchi, Jharkhand, after investigations revealed that SIM box rackets were also operating in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. A team of investigators accompanied him during this transfer.

The Commissioner of Police has requested assistance from Interpol to apprehend Asadur Zaman, the primary suspect and mastermind behind the racket, who is a Bangladeshi national.

The case took a new turn following Raju Mandal’s arrest. His family had previously reported him missing at a West Bengal police station. After receiving the missing person report, the West Bengal police tracked his mobile phone to his last known location at the Laxmisagar police station.

Upon learning this, the West Bengal police informed their counterparts at Laxmisagar, who then notified Raju’s family. His relatives, accompanied by their lawyer, subsequently visited the Laxmisagar police station, where they were provided with details regarding his arrest.
