Broad daylight murder: Sanitation supervisor hacked to death in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, Jan 8: A gruesome incident occurred on Wednesday morning on the Rasulgarh Road Over Bridge (ROB) in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, where a man was brutally murdered by a group of four to five assailants.

The victim, identified as Sahadev Nayak, was a supervisor for sanitation workers and resided in the Kedarpalli area. Reports indicate that the attack happened around 8 AM while Nayak was riding his motorcycle from Rasulgarh to Vani Vihar on NH-16.

The attackers, riding two motorcycles, intercepted him. One of the assailants began assaulting Nayak with a helmet, while another fatally struck him in the neck with a sword, causing severe injuries.

The shocking act left bystanders in disbelief as they witnessed the assailants fleeing the scene, leaving Nayak in a pool of blood. Police responded promptly to the scene and initiated an investigation to apprehend the attackers. Mancheswar police station IIC Mrutyunjay Swain stated that a team is reviewing CCTV footage to identify the suspects. Authorities suspect that prior animosity may have contributed to this tragic event.
