Mortal remains of Odisha tourist killed in Pahalgam terror attack to reach Bhubaneswar tonight

Bhubaneswar, April 23: The mortal remains of Prasant Satpathy, the Odisha resident who was tragically killed in a terrorist attack at Pahalgam in Jammu & Kashmir on Tuesday, will be brought back to Odisha on Wednesday night.
According to officials, the Odisha government, in coordination with authorities in New Delhi and Jammu & Kashmir, is overseeing the transfer process. As per the plan, Prasant’s body will be flown from Srinagar to Delhi, arriving there at around 2:35 PM. It will then be shifted to Bhubaneswar on an evening flight, expected to reach the state capital by 9:45 PM.
The Office of the Resident Commissioner of Odisha in New Delhi is managing the arrangements closely with local administration.
Prasant, a resident of Ishani village under Remuna block in Balasore district, had traveled to Pahalgam with his wife Priyadarshini and their nine-year-old son for a family holiday. The vacation turned into a nightmare when terrorists opened fire in broad daylight, killing him on the spot in front of his family. His wife and child escaped unhurt but remain in deep shock.
Back in Balasore, a pall of gloom has engulfed his village. Local residents and officials are preparing to receive the body and conduct the final rites with full honours. Odisha government representatives are also expected to attend the cremation. A family member stated that the last rites are likely to be conducted on Thursday.
