BMC announces postponement of Patha Utsav; new date to be revealed soon
Bhubaneswar, Dec 21: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) announced on Saturday that the Patha Utsav scheduled for December 22 has been postponed due to continuous rainfall caused by a depression over the Bay of Bengal.
The BMC will soon provide details regarding the new date and venue for the event.
In a statement posted on X, the BMC mentioned, “Due to the current adverse weather conditions, the Bhubaneswar Patha Utsav on December 22, 2024, is postponed. The new date and location will be announced shortly.”
Originally set to take place at 6 AM at Master Canteen Square, the Patha Utsav aimed to showcase various cultural events in preparation for the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention, which will occur in the city from January 8 to 10, 2025.
The event was to feature music, dance, quizzes, skating, yoga, and cycling activities along the road from Master Canteen to Ram Mandir.
The BMC launched Patha Utsav in 2016 to promote cultural engagement and community activities during the winter months. Last year, the event began on Christmas, focusing on the FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup, and took place on Ratha Road in the Old Town area of Bhubaneswar.
