Odisha CM announces development plan for Maa Tarini Temple in Keonjhar

Bhubaneswar, April 14: A Detailed Project Report (DPR) valued at over Rs 215 crore is currently being prepared for the integrated development of the Maa Tarini Temple in Ghatagaon, located in Odisha’s Keonjhar district.
Chief Minister Mohan Majhi, during his visit to the temple on Monday, shared the news, stating that the groundbreaking ceremony would take place once the DPR is approved. He emphasized that the state budget had already allocated funds for the project, which aims to transform the temple into a prominent spiritual destination, reflecting the deep significance Maa Tarini holds for millions of Odias.
The initiative forms part of the BJP government's efforts to preserve and enhance Odisha's religious and cultural heritage. In March, the Odisha Bridge and Construction Corporation (OBCC) issued a tender for the project, with a completion timeline of two years.
The project will focus on restoring and beautifying the temple and its surrounding areas. Key developments outlined in the DPR include the creation of access roads, parking spaces, improved lighting, and sanitation facilities.
A significant highlight will be the construction of a three-storey pilgrim center with 250 beds for devotees. Additionally, a market complex, an information center, food plaza, toilets, cloak room, and shoe storage will be set up. Other planned features include ticket counters, a rest house for drivers, a new queue system, a pond, two welcome gates, and hand and foot washing stations.
