Additional civil supplies officer arrested over disproportionate assets

Bhubaneswar, Aug 17: Vigilance officials today arrested Pradeep Kumar Mohapatra, Additional Civil Supplies Officer of Kendrapara, on charges of possessing disproportionate assets.

Following searches of Mohapatra's properties, authorities discovered assets including two buildings in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, two valuable plots in the twin cities, 850 grams of gold, over Rs 2.86 crore in deposits, and Rs 1.21 lakh in cash, according to a statement from the Vigilance Department.

Mohapatra was unable to provide a satisfactory explanation for these assets, which led to his arrest. He is scheduled to appear in court today, and a case has been filed against him under Vigilance Cell PS case number 08/2024.

Earlier on Friday, Vigilance officials conducted simultaneous raids at five locations in Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, and Kendrapara in connection with the investigation into Mohapatra’s alleged disproportionate assets. The operation was led by four Deputy Superintendents of Police, one Assistant Commandant, five Inspectors, and additional support staff, following search warrants issued by the Special Judge of Vigilance in Cuttack.
