Western disturbance to bring rain to Odisha this weekend

Bhubaneswar, Dec 27: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced that a western disturbance will affect Odisha starting Saturday, bringing rain to the state throughout the weekend.

Currently, several northern states, including Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, are experiencing rain, thundershowers, gusty winds, and even hail due to this weather system. The IMD also predicts widespread rainfall and snowfall across the Western Himalayan region on December 27 and 28.

In Odisha, a yellow alert has been issued for dense fog in parts of Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Balangir, and Nabarangpur until the morning of December 28. Shallow to moderate fog may also be observed in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, and Keonjhar districts.

On December 28, light rain is expected in Bargarh, Balangir, Nuapada, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, and Sonepur. This light rain may persist in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Kandhamal, and Kalahandi for the following 24 hours.

Following this weather system, the night temperatures are likely to decrease by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius, with dry conditions expected to prevail across the state afterward.
