Visibility plummets in Odisha as IMD warns of continued dense fog

Bhubaneswar, Jan 28: A thick layer of fog enveloped Paradip, Puri, and Gopalpur on Tuesday morning, causing visibility at Bhubaneswar airport to drop to just 100 meters.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported that very dense fog was observed in Nayagarh, where visibility fell below 50 meters. Dense fog conditions were also recorded in Angul, Bhubaneswar, Gopalpur, Dhenkanal, Khurda, Kendrapada, Cuttack, and Jagatsinghpur.
The IMD has issued warnings of dense fog in one or two locations across several districts, including Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Nayagarh, Khurda, and Ganjam, lasting until Wednesday morning. The alert will continue for Ganjam, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, and Jajpur over the next 24 hours.
Additionally, shallow to moderate fog is expected in various areas on Wednesday morning, particularly in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Nayagarh, Khurda, and Ganjam, with similar conditions anticipated on Thursday and Friday in several districts.
The IMD also noted that nighttime temperatures across the state are expected to remain stable over the next two days, with a rise of 2-4 degrees Celsius likely in the following three days.
