Swapnil Kusale wins bronze in 50m rifle at Paris Olympics

New Delhi, Aug 1: Swapnil Kusale secured his first Olympic bronze and India's third medal at the Paris Summer Olympics on August 1, 2024, in the 50m rifle 3 positions event. China's Y.K. Liu took the gold with 463.6 points, and Ukraine's S. Kulish won silver with 461.3 points. Kusale finished with a score of 451.4 after placing seventh in the qualification round.

This marked Kusale's debut at the Olympics, having earned his spot by finishing fourth in the World Championships in Cairo, where he also contributed to the Indian men's team’s bronze medal victory.

India's medal count in shooting at this Olympics includes Kusale's bronze and two medals won by Manu Bhaker. Bhaker earned a bronze in the 10m air pistol and another bronze with Sarabjot Singh in the 10m air pistol mixed team event.
