Star Air to launch direct flights from Jharsuguda to Hyderabad starting January 1

Bhubaneswar, Dec 13: Regional airline Star Air is set to launch its services from Veer Surendra Sai (VSS) Airport in Jharsuguda, Odisha, starting January 1, with direct flights to Hyderabad. Additionally, the airline has plans to expand its operations to include routes connecting Raipur and Lucknow, with flights from Hyderabad to these cities via Jharsuguda.
This initiative aligns with the government’s UDAN scheme, which aims to enhance air connectivity to remote areas at affordable prices. Star Air recently announced its intention to increase its fleet to 25 aircraft over the next three years, further supporting last-mile connectivity for tier-2 and tier-3 cities in India.
In a promotional post on social media, Star Air encouraged travelers, stating, “Get ready to fly to the powerhouse of Odisha! Direct flights between Jharsuguda and Hyderabad start January 1, 2025!” Fares for these flights will begin at Rs 3,999, with services from Raipur to Hyderabad and Jharsuguda commencing on February 1, with fares starting at Rs 2,399.
The initial flight schedule will operate on Mondays and Sundays, with additional flights starting February 1, including Jharsuguda-Raipur flights on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday, as well as Jharsuguda-Lucknow flights on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.
Simran Singh Tiwana, CEO of Star Air, emphasized that these new routes are a significant advancement in the airline’s commitment to improving regional connectivity in India. He noted that the flights aim to enhance convenience for passengers and stimulate growth in trade, tourism, and economic opportunities in the connected regions.
