Odisha recruits homeopathic practitioners and radiographers

Bhubaneswar, Dec 13: The Odisha government on Friday handed over appointment letters to 376 individuals, comprising 85 homeopathic practitioners, 239 radiographers from the health department, and 52 faculty members from the higher education department.
During the event, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi congratulated the newly appointed professionals and emphasized the importance of working with professional skills and a service-oriented mindset. He urged them to focus on their responsibilities and to combat corruption within government roles.
Highlighting the need for improvement in health and education transparency, the Chief Minister noted that Odisha currently ranks third among 28 states in the health rankings released by NITI Aayog, scoring only 40.19 out of 100. He expressed a commitment to achieving at least a score of 60 and placing Odisha among the top ten service providers in the country.
The Chief Minister outlined the government's strategic plans for better healthcare, including a 32 percent increase in the health budget, aimed primarily at infrastructure development. He announced the establishment of medical colleges and hospitals in every district over the next five years and emphasized the role of both the Ayushman Yojana and the Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana in enhancing healthcare access.
Furthermore, he stated that over 20,000 job recruitments have been carried out in the last six months through six job fairs, demonstrating the government’s commitment to filling vacant positions in the public sector. Looking ahead, the Chief Minister announced the imminent appointment of pharmacy officers in government hospitals, alongside homeopathic doctors and radiographers, and revealed that 422 homeopathy and ayurvedic clinics in Odisha have been upgraded to 'Ayushman Arogya Mandirs' under the National Ayush Mission. Additionally, three new 50-bed integrated AYUSH hospitals will be established in Dhenkanal, Berhampur, and Balasore.
